Fists a' Flyin

Hey ya'll! Above is a quick piece I did for one of those numerous Street Fighter tribute books.

Mighty Mighty Monthly

Recently I've been setting up at the Mighty Mighty Monthly Comic Con and Toy Show here in Philly which is run by my good pals over at Frankenstein Comics . It's a great little show put on once a month at the International House in University City. Being a small show allows me to talk to get to know not just the fans who attend but also the artists/ creators who do as well, all of whom are just awesome people. I highly recommend going at least once, not just to see my beautiful face in person, but to check out other local talent as well and maybe even buy an actual comic book (now you too can feel nostalgia of buying paper printed literature and be the envy of every kid over 25 in your office)!

Above are a few of the commissions I've done for fans. I've been going to conventions since 2002 (i think?) and doing commissions at almost all of them but still haven't gotten used to drawing in front of people. Doing these monthly shows is helping me break out of that self-conscious fog. A part of me wants to make a piece of art that makes women swoon, dogs howl, and grown men vomit in excitement and another part wants to do it without messing up something that people paid hard earned money for. So it's a lot to think about.

Comic Books

Featured above are pieces I'm working on for a possible gig with Marvel Comics and DC comics. Attempting to go from doing a Manga art style to Comic Books is a weird feeling. I have been working in the Manga art form for about 11 years prior to now (where does the time go?).

Some of the biggest hurdles I find are drawing comic book style women, lots and lots and lots of shadow work, and lots and lots of backgrounds on every page. But hey, what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger, right?

Honestly, in the back of my soul I've always been a Comic Book illustrator trying to draw in the manga style anyway. Now I feel as though I have a little more freedom to play with style wise.

This doesn't mean I'm letting go of my Manga inspired work altogether. I'll still make an effort to work in both areas. For an artist must keep his/her feet in more than one pond to be successful.

But I'll probably wind up creating an spin-off blog to feature my Comic related work so things are kept sorted.

Observations 4 & 5

Hey there! Here's another (and long overdue) edition of my web comic 'Observations'. This time we find our hero in a hair raising situation if you know what I mean! Hahahahaaaaaok I'll behave...

If you wanna check out prior entries of 'Observations' click here!

Yunno, since I'm in such a jolly mood, here's another I had in my closet for a minute. I posted it earlier in the year but wasn't digging the dialogue. Feel free to add your own!

Hope the Holidays were good to you all and that 2012 is a year filled with non-Armageddon type Luv and Fortune!
